National Football League's best SuperBowl quarterbacks, touchdown scorers, and more

Related Topics:

Notwithstanding the most popular NFL team bets among pro football fans or Super Bowl sportsbooks betting favorites in odds and futures, the real heroes and true stars of the SuperBowl are really the football players themselves. These include the lead rankers for touchdowns in SuperBowl history and the most legendary quarterbacks, as they say that the National Football League QBs give their biggest performances in the biggest pro football games. Since the NFL started drafting in 1936, countless hopefuls, many of them college football players, have had their biggest brush with success at American pro football and the SuperBowl. In the earliest decades of the NFL, many of these football players never even agreed to go on to play - getting paid to play professional football was not so popular then. But all that soon changed as the NFL and SuperBowl started gaining popularity and has never stopped since. With SuperBowl XXXIX 2005 drawing near, we look back at the NFL's best and most exciting pro football players, some of whom have gone on to become SuperBowl legends.

One name that easily comes to mind, a name historically synonymous with respect among NFL football fans and followers of SuperBowl betting, odds, and futures, is Joe Montana. This San Francisco 49ers QB, who also played with the Kansas City Chiefs, holds the record for highest passer rating (Jim Plunkett of the Oakland/L.A. Raiders is second), most passes completed, and most touchdown passes in any NFL pro football player's entire SuperBowl career. A three-time SuperBowl MVP in nine NFL pro football seasons, he is also second highest in most consecutive completions and highest completion percentage in a game. The 49ers, which holds the unprecedented record in NFL SuperBowl team standings with 5 wins and 0 losses, also boosted the pro football careers of QB Steve Young who holds the record in most touchdown passes in a game and is SuperBowl 1995 MVP, and WR Jerry Rice, SuperBowl 1989 MVP and record holder for most touchdowns and most points in a career, and most touchdowns in a game along with Roger Craig and Ricky Watters, also of San Francisco, and Terrel Davis of Denver (Broncos).

More recently, Tom Brady is another name with potential to become a legend. This New England Patriots QB is a two-time SuperBowl MVP in three NFL pro football seasons and already holds the record for most passes completed in a game, from SuperBowl XXXVIII 2004, and third highest completion percentage in a career. Not to forget Patriots kicker Adam Vinatieri who is also making a name for himself with a wiining final play in both NFL championship seasons already for New England. With the coming of SuperBowl XXXIX 2005, more pro football players are making a go at NFL victory, from impressive rookie QB Ben Roethlisberger of the Pittsburgh Steelers to QBs Peyton Manning of Indianapolis Colts, Drew Brees of San Diego Chargers, Chad Pennington of New York Jets, Donovan McNabb of Philadelphia Eagles, and Michael Vick of Atlanta Falcons. Before and after life at the SuperBowl, these pro football players continue to give the fans and followers of NFL and SuperBowl betting, odds, and futures a neverending show at the NFL playoffs year in, year out.
